My friend Chris

My friend Chris bartends at Columbus Airport. Last night, he made a new friend.

Trent had just broken up with his girlfriend of 3 years. She'd dropped him off at the airport, but his flight back to Alaska wasn't for 24 hours.

Chris invited him out for a drink after his shift finished. They met me at Press Grill at 10:58 PM.

The Convenience Store

I was just finishing my first beer when Trent realised he'd left his wallet at the airport, so we headed to Kelly's Carry-Out for a money transfer.

As Trent waited for his money to be processed, Chris and I wandered the aisles.

"Why do they sell Halloween wigs at a convenience store?" I asked.
"Dude. Those are weaves."
"Oh."

I looked around. The place reminded me of the corner shop in Taxi Driver.

"I keep on expecting someone to walk in with a shotgun", I joked.

A few moments later, a man dressed completely in black and wearing a ski mask walked into the store.

No one moved as the chill of outside air carried him in.

He looked around, took his mask off, and then bought some beer.

Baby, It's Cold Outside.
